Mix it with a Turn Table

If you have ever used a turn table, I am sure you know just how amusing they can be. It is an easy way to spice up any bland recording, giving it extra texture and potency. The Stanton T90USB USB Direct Drive DJ Turntable is my pick for today because it allows you to plug strait into your pc or mac and record. This means that you can archive any old vinyl that you have or record your latest mix on the table. It is a fun and creative way to spice up your old records. Right now you can grab this high quality turn table for 199.95 on AMS which is 56 percent off the cover price.

I should let you know, there are programs that allow you to modify music and edit it so it sounds like it has been mixed with a turn table. However those are not nearly as fun. Moving the record with your hands and getting the satisfaction of authoring a truly famous song is worth the price of this turn table. I would highly recommend this buy as it is on clearance now and it won’t be left for long.

The Best Mic for Your Buck

Today I am going to highlight some of the many features of one of the best mics on the market for the money, the Rode NT1A Vocal Condenser Microphone at AMS. This mic has incredible clarity and sensitivity for just 200 dollars. It utilizes state of the art technology to ensure maximum noise reduction. It is perfect for studio recordings and gigs alike. If you are looking to up your vocal performance, this mic will do the trick. The mic does so well against preventing vocal distortion. In tests conducted by AMS specialists, the mic picked up noise outside of a building but didn’t pick up the loud humming from the computers inside the building. This technology identifies the sounds you want amplified and alleviates all other noise. I would highly recommend picking up this mic, which sounds like it costs at least 500 dollars.

You can't outdo a Mac

If you don't already have a computer which is up to the task of editing and recording, you might consider getting a new macbook pro from AMS. The intel core 2 duo processor provides ample speed so that none of your editing tasks will lag. Furthermore, all new macbook pros are loaded with 4 gigs of ram standard. It comes with a built in isight so that you can communicate with friends in other countries or even play music with bandmates across the globe. They will be able to see and hear you with the state of the art built in video capturing device on the macbook pro. Some people might look at the price tag of 2600 bucks and scoff. But let me tell you, I have had my mac laptop for five years and I have NEVER had to take it in for repairs or call a help line. The only malfunction that has ever occurred is that it got overworked and froze up on me twice in five years. Other than that I have never gotten a virus or had any problems handling a multitude of tasks. If you buy a PC, you will spend hundreds on antivirus software, professional technical assistance, and an operating system which is less intuitive than a mac. But if you pay a little more upfront by buying a macbook pro, you will save money and hassle in the long run. Industry professionals agree that you can't outdo a mac for music recording and editing.

Learn Your Scales

If you are interested in learning scales, I would highly recommend the Amsco Gig Bag Book Of Scales for All Guitarists. It breaks it down and offers simple tablature for over 180 scales so that you can grasp and understand firmly. It also offers fingering suggestions with five different scale positions covering the whole fretboard. This book is a total of 176 pages and is for sale on AMS for just 14.95. Another great scales book is Scales and Modes In The Beginning. This book is divided into four sections which include

2) Scale Terminology - a thorough understanding of whole and half steps, scale degrees, intervals, etc.
3) Scales And Modes - the rear of the book covers every scale you will ever need with exercises and applications
4) Scale To Chord Guide - ties it all together, showing what scale to use over various chords.

I would highly recommend both of the above books. If you know someone begiing the guitar, grab both of them. The second one I just mentioned is only 11.99. You can pick em both up for just 27 bucks.

The Beginning Guitar Pack

If you or someone you know is a beginning guitar player, I would recommend using some expert resources such as CD and DVD tapes to help you learn the basics. Really you don’t need personal instructor advice until you start moving on to some more complex measures. In the beginning, I would recommend something like the Hal Leonard Guitar Method Beginner Package for just 24.99. This package will set you up with all the tools and tricks you need to get started. Most new guitar players are so excited to be learning to play but they don’t know where to begin. If you know someone in that boat, show them this package as I believe it will seriously help.
This package includes the second edition of the level 1 book and cd. This book focuses on the tried and true method for learning guitar developed by Hal Leonard himself. It is a total of 47 pages of great instruction.

Ibanez AF100 Artcore Electric Guitar With Case

If I were going to buy a new electric guitar, here is my pick. The Ibanez AF100 Artcore Electric Guitar from AMS. Right now this guitar is selling for just 499 which is a savings of 433 dollars. You can pick up a guitar that retails for almost 1000 bucks for just 499. Why is this guitar so cheap? First of all AMS keeps costs low by having no storefront inventory. That means that unlike your local guitar shop, they don't have to pay rent. Instead their items are stored in a warehouse and shipped directly to you. Ibanez makes some of the most stylish and desirable guitars which play beautifully but sell for a fraction of their competitors. They are in the business of selling quality guitars for bargain prices. The name isn't as renown as Fender for example but many argue they are made just as well.

Today I wanted to share one of my favorite models available now, the Takamine EAN40C Natural Cutaway Acoustic Electric Guitar with Case. This six string acoustic guitar has a built in preamp, EQ, and tuner. Now that is a pretty sweet setup.
This guitar is part of the Takamine natural series which provides more bang for your buck. This guitar is featured at just under 700 bucks but will play with the best of the 1200 dollar guitars. It has a beautiful cedar top with a solid mahogany back with no pickguard to complete the slick look.
This guitar is part of a limited time special which has marked it down to 699 instead of AMS usual price of 799. Either way, those numbers are still far less than the 1400 you would pay for this guitar in a music shop.

A Really Nice Guitar

I love nice guitars – and here is one of the nicest I have discussed on this blog. The Gibson SG Standard Electric Guitar with Case in Heritage Cherry is a real beauty for the serious musician with a few bucks to spend. This guitar can’t be beat in my mind. In terms of style and class, it will blow you away. The cherry finish will make it pop out in any room time and time again. For $1049 you can get a brand new one on AMS but it will have a small scratch on the guitar. If that doesn’t tickle your fancy you can pay $1199 and grab one that is in perfect condition. That is still a steal of a price compared to the suggested retail of $1998 which brick and mortar shops charge. The more I am around this stuff the more I realize that the brick and mortar music shops just can’t compete with an internet music business like AMS. AMS has no overhead cost of a storefront so they can afford to cut you way better deals that your local neighborhood guitar shop.

Anyway back to my pick of the day. This unit is the modern rendition of the well known Gibson SG of the 60’s. It has some stellar improvements which make the former model pale in comparison. There is really too much to go into detail here. To get the full story on this beauty, visit AMS

Take a Break with Karaoke

Normally I discuss music mediums which are good for your personal enjoyment or for professional / band situations. However you have to remember that music is always supposed to be fun. That’s why we play right, to have fun. So today I thought I would help you find a fun little toy which will liven up your parties. The Nady DKW Duo VHF Wireless Karaoke Microphone System is the perfect fit for some fun filled karaoke nights. Its just 50 bucks so you can’t afford not to grab this thing. In my experience I think karaoke is especially beneficial because it allows for a bit of role reversal. If you are in a band have the drummer and the bass player do some songs on the karaoke machine. It’s always fun to hear people sing who don’t usually do it.

This system is a pretty good deal for just fifty bucks. You get two wireless microphones and a quality transmitter. However you will still have to supply the lyrics to the music you are playing. Many can be found at songlyrics.com

Anyway to grab this sweet system visit AMS

Here are some features from AMS:

* Each transmitter operates on a separate single frequency in the VHF 170-216MHz band and can be used singly or together simultaneously with the DKW-DUO dual receiver
* Easy, convenient operation with on/off switch and low battery LED indicator which flashes once for unit ON, and lights steady for low battery alert
* Features the Nady DM-20 unidirectional dynamic cartridge for optimum true sound, maximum feedback rejection and minimal handling noise
* Each transmitter operates up to 15 hours on a single 9V alkaline battery
